3. Buy dog food and your Puppy Starter Pack

We have done extensive research and have learned so much about what works for our dogs and what does not. We have come up with feeding guidelines that optimizes our dogs health, growth, quality of life, and life expectancy. The brands we have recommended have met our standards with quality and customer service. They do not cut corners and produce high quality food and products. They source their products from reputable and safe sources as well. The reason we require our puppies to be raised on these foods is because we know it works and we know it is what is best for their health and it is important that corgis are fed an appropriate diet for proper growth. We strongly feel that many dog foods cause puppies to grow too fast and then cause issues down the line; we have not seen that issue with our dogs and puppies raised on any of the recommended foods. We understand that not one single dog food works for all dogs and feel that the variety between the brands and formulas/recipes will be able to suite every puppy’s needs. We personally rotate between brands every 3-4 bags and rotate between formulas of that brand each bag to give our adult dogs variety in their diet.

**Clients are required to buy at least one bag of dog food the litter was raised on and then can choose between any of the recommended brands and formulas/recipes (must be grain friendly and not grain-free) that we have listed as approved.

Native Corgis Feeding Guidelines:

  • Approved dog food.

  • Soak food in Pawtree bone broth (this is essential, kibble is designed to be rehydrated, if not rehydrated your dog will be constantly dehydrated)

  • 1 spoonful of canned food is plenty per feeding. We use FirstMate Wild Pacific Salmon & Rice Formula for canned food. This can be bought on chewy (click on the underlined text and it should take you right to it) and should last a long time. You only use enough to create a gravy on the food.

  • Fish oil from PawTree

  • NuJoint

  • NuVet

4. Order NuVet Plus and NuJoint

All of our adult dogs and puppies are given Nuvet Plus Supplements and NuJoint Supplements. Our puppies must stay on NuJoint for the first 3 years of their life and stay on NuVet for the first year. We strongly encourage our puppy clients to continue their puppies on both past those times as well. We have seen Nuvet help with shedding and coat condition along with overall health. NuVet is an immunity booster and helps tremendously during any form of stress. Most importantly, I give NuJoint as a preventative to all of my dogs. Many people restrict their Corgis activity to prevent problems with joints later in life. I personally do not think it would be fair to restrict my dogs activities because they are herding dogs and love to go out and play. I feel like a good joint supplement helps prevent joint problems later in life. Also, NuJoint DS is great for older dogs who are having some problems with their joints. With our order code “793757” you will have wholesale pricing.

9. Schedule your vet appointment within 3 days of your puppy going home

Your puppy will be coming home to you with age appropriate vaccinations and deworming along with being microchipped. At your first visit with your vet, you will not need to get any vaccinations done. It should just be a general wellness check to confirm with your vet that you received a healthy puppy. All puppies are seen with our vet prior to leaving and we want your vet to confirm that and have it in their records as well. This visit is also a great time to schedule future vaccination visits and your spay/neuter appointment, if your vet will allow you to schedule that in advance.

12. Puppy Go Home Day Folder Information- Please download and read prior to pickup

We used to send home a folder with so much information in it. We hope by linking the file here with all the information that we used to send home in every puppy’s folder that people will be able to download it and read through it before puppy pickup day. This will help answer any questions you may have and if there are still more questions after reading over the file, please ask.
